RE: (Position that I am applying for)
Dear (name of Hiring Manager),
As an experienced Assistant Project Director in higher education, currently finishing my Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in P-12 and Postsecondary Leadership, the posting for Assistant Director of the Office of Educational Supports piqued my interest. When reviewing the job requirements and your website, I was excited to see that my qualifications and personal traits align with your needs and mission.
I bring a set of talents that I believe will be valuable to the State of Michigan's Department of Education. In my Assistant Project Director role, I've honed my skills in teacher preparation, administration of teacher internships, and building relationships with k-12 school districts and stakeholders. I feel that my current work has provided me with a solid foundation to serve in the Assistant Director of the Office of Educational Support position. My communication strengths, people-centric and collaborative nature, as well as my time management skills have afforded me excellent organization skills. Specifically, through helping to lead a Chinese language teacher preparation program, I've spent considerable time preparing and supporting intern teachers and the k-12 school districts they serve, building relationships with stakeholders across the United States and internationally, problem-solving, as well as ensuring our program is aligned with research and policies leading to best practices for teacher preparation, student outcomes, and academic achievement. I am deeply committed to diversity and inclusion across the educational landscape, working to remove systemic barriers and promote educational equity. I think you will find that my personal beliefs and professional career align extremely well with the State Board of Education's mission that "All students graduate ready for careers, college, and community."
I am excited to contribute my strengths and proficiency in teamwork toward your team efforts. As an extroverted and personable communicator with a proven track record in team building, teacher development, and collaboration with school districts, my focus on building strong professional relationships has been a valuable asset throughout my career.
Please review my resume for a complete collection of my work history and accomplishments. I would like to schedule an interview at your earliest convenience and truly believe that my skills and background would be an asset to your organization. I look forward to discussing how my personality and work history fit the scope and duties of the Assistant Director of the Office of Educational Support role.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Sarah Hipps
